Every time I read the advice to just say “no” to someone if they ask me to go out, I only picture myself being the one to say “no.” But people will also be saying “no,” to me too. As in, “you’re not someone I want to spend time with.” It’s definitely a little hurtful, but I don’t want someone to spend time with me if they don’t want to. Goes both ways.
Maybe they are just tired, had a long week, introverted, etc. When I say no it isn't because I don't want to spend time with someone, it's because my social battery is low. I would try not to take it too personally :)
If it isn’t personal and I don’t want to go out due to my social battery, I’d make sure the other person knows I do want to get together by setting up another date in the future.

Sometimes it is personal, though. But I don’t want hang out with certain people either!
