Hi! I hope you had a great week and are enjoying a leisurely Saturday morning.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It’s a good list and somehow very TV/movie heavy as there is a lot of news on that front (including great news for Harry Potter + Emily Henry fans!). But also: the dreamiest home on Orcas Island, a vexing friendship problem, all-inclusive resorts in Europe that sound pretty great, and more. I love putting together this list every week and hope you enjoy it!
PS - Hotel Lobby Candle Company is running their big sale! They only do this once a year. 20% off ALL CANDLES, except signature black. This runs through 6/3. I stocked up on Signature and ordered a Capri to try. I was very sad that Hamptons sold out before I could shop.
Five more good July 4 sales below! :)
A new-to-me brand of bath soaks.
You probably know this about me, but I LOVE a bath soak. There is an entire category dedicated to baths on my blog!. I should probably write another big bath soak edit and I will get to that soon but you should know that I still take a bath 2-3x a week, even in this summer heat. It is my favorite way to wind down, sweat a little, and then fall asleep.
Recently, I was influenced by a Facebook ad (of all things, I’m only ever on there to moderate the group) for a brand called Flewd Stresscare. The baths sounded great, so I ordered their variety pack (there’s a soak for insomnia, one for mood, and one for aches and pains).
I tried the insomnia one on Tuesday and OH MY GOODNESS I slept like an actual angel. Heaven. You only need to soak for 15 minutes (It made me sweat A LOT). Afterward, be prepared to just do the least. I moisturized, drank a lot of water, slipped into bed with my book, and drifted off to one of the best nights of sleep.
5 Great July 4 Sales!
J.Crew has marked down their sale category an extra 60% off which means there are some true bargains - it’s worth spending some time! Some gems: this embroidered dress, this beach shirt (I have it in blue), these rope heel sandals.
Moda Operandi is running their 20% off beauty event through 7/2. They stock an incredible assortment including my favorite blush and my current fragrance.
Hill House is running their 4th of July Event with 20% off tons of great styles. Use code 20HAPPY4TH.
Tanya Taylor is offering an extra 20% off sale styles; a slew of great dresses are included.
Veronica Beard is running an extra 25% off sale styles with code FIREWORKS25. I’m eyeing this chambray shirt and this stripe sweater.
A new moisture mask and brand to keep on your radar:
Ever since I heard that Pamela Anderson and her sons acquired Sonsie, I have been extremely curious about the brand, watching to see what they do with it. I like the brand’s ethos (caring for your skin where it is now vs. “fixing” it); and the chic, minimal packaging doesn’t hurt either.
I have been testing out their multi moisture mask. It was heaven after a long flight (I slept in it), but it’s also great just left on for 20 minutes (you just tissue it off). Truly: twenty minutes and my skin was plump and dewy, not unlike the way it feels after using much more pricy masks (cough cough, Sisley Black Rose Mask). This gets two thumbs up from me! I can’t wait to see what they do next.
A new to me LUXE (exfoliating!) lip balm
EADEM sent over a few of their new Le Chouchou lip softening balms and I love them! I think it is really cool that besides moisturizing and hydrating (and giving you very glossy lips), it also exfoliates. A winning combination. They’ve completely sold out at Sephora but all colors are still available on the brand’s website.
To use their words, you get “the exfoliation of a gentle peel, the moisture of an intense lip mask, and the ultra-reflective sheen of a lip gloss.” My lips have never been softer. The colors are fab (Burnt Malai is a pretty nude and Fig Sauce is a rose) but I find myself reaching for the clear one most.
What I Watched This Week:
I got caught up on Presumed Innocent on Apple TV (this show is so good, I wish all of the episodes were released at once!) and decided to watch the original with Harrison Ford (it was excellent but I worry I spoiled the ending for myself! I guess we will see).
On Tuesday night I went to the movies with a group of friends to watch Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. It was good! Honestly, not my typical choice of film but I love going to the movies, especially in the summer when it is really hot. The CGI was phenomenal, the plot was extremely unrealistic (though that’s kind of the point), but super fun, and it was maybe 30 min too long but I enjoyed it. This is the sort of film you see on the big screen or not at all IMO.
Extras:
I love seeing more and more OG bloggers embrace Substack. Welcome,
! I really enjoyed this comprehensive (and not outrageously expensive) skincare routine post.Sold Out made us a new code. Use 15GRACE for 15% off. Perfect if you loved my linen t-shirt; I also really love these sets!
Happy weekend. I’m in between a 6/8 what size would you recommend in the nap dress ? Thanks !!
I love the eadam lip stuff too and also, it’s a Woc Brand. I, too, missed Hampton and was so bummed when I went to get my HLC 🕯️. I can’t wait to hear what you think of Capri, it’s my go to summer candle. ☺️
