The Saturday Group Text, #90
An extremely tasty snack, online art classes, Hill House's new drop (their best one yet?!), a body sculpting tool, the new show I'm watching, and loads more links.
Hi, my long-lost friends! Happy weekend. Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It’s a (if I do say so myself) pretty great list. It felt like there were just so many good articles and things to click on this week. Why it’s nearly impossible to buy an original Bob Ross painting. How the attention economy is coming for us all (woof). How to help those impacted by the Texas floods. On the “leaning out” of corporate America trend. Book and bag pairings. A dramatic kitchen makeover and a gorgeous Gilded Age townhome. Jelly blush and the best time to shower. How to get better at small talk, 16 standout cookbooks, how to add more whimsy to your life, where to travel in November, + so much more! I hope you enjoy it.
PS - this letter gets a little long! Click through to Substack to read the whole thing. And if you are feeling nice, give it a heart, it helps with the algo. <3
Jeanne Oliver’s Online Art Classes
My favorite day of the retreat was a day-long art workshop we had with Jeanne Oliver. It was positively wonderful to get to sit outside and paint and draw in the sunshine, but Jeanne herself is such a gem. A delightful human — funny, kind, warm, talented… and so knowledgeable! I learned a lot. We painted the color wheel, did thumbnail sketches, played with charcoal and watercolors, and even made a linocut print. I was so happy to learn that she has an incredible array of online courses. There’s even a French landscapes course, which looks pretty similar to what we learned. You can check them out here. I signed up for Cy Twombly + Women of Abstract Expressionism, ordered the supplies, and am excited to dive in over the coming weeks!
You know I am always looking for more ways to sneak in protein + fiber and WOW, these are SO DELICIOUS! Just trust me — order a bunch, and thank me later. I found them through
and cannot stop eating them. My favorite is Everything (didn’t take a pic as the bag is already gone!) but Sesame is a close second. I eat them alone like a chip, or I will use them as a base for cottage cheese or avocado. Truly just so tasty, I cannot get enough.New Hill House Drop
OMG. I missed this drop when I was in France and am so sad as a few of the things (cough cough, ribbon mini dress, rlly hope they restock it!) sold out but WOW, I think this may be Hill House’s best drop ever? I love the midi version of the ribbon dress, and I scooped up the above set immediately (lace tunic and shorts), as it’s absolutely perfect. Rainbows and 3D lace? All I want to wear right now.
HigherDose Body Sculptor
I have been testing out HigherDose’s new body sculptor tool and really love it. (I love all of their products, especially the sauna blanket, so I wasn’t surprised!). It has multiple uses and benefits. You can use it without microcurrent for lymphatic drainage, or you can turn it on and reap the benefits: it helps with sore muscles and recovery time and improves the skin’s texture. It also just feels really good, like you’re getting a professional body treatment. I like to use it before bed, along with their magnesium spray. You’ll sleep like a baby! You can use my code GRACE15 for a discount! (PS - read my sauna blanket review right this way!!)
The Gilded Age (HBO) is back and I’m so happy about that. I’ve only watched the first episode but it’s one of my favorite shows.
The Waterfront (Netflix) has held my attention and been my jetlag bestie. It’s about a family in a North Carolina town that runs a restaurant and a fishery. As their business crumbles and they find themselves in debt, they turn to some treacherous ways (dealing drugs) to stay afloat. It’s not amazing, but it’s fun and soapy set against a pretty fabulous backdrop.
A first look at LACMA’s new galleries. I can’t wait to go!!!
Shopbop Hearts are up to date—so much summer goodness!
TWP is one of my favorite splurge brands. Their new arrivals are incredible. I told myself I could get one piece (I bought this top; the M/L fits me perfectly) but I am also drooling over this chambray top with its crystal collar.
We have two fantastic new codes! (Also, my codes page is updated)
Violet Grey: Take 15% off with GRACE15. Expires at the end of the month.
Furbish Home: I love their needlepoint pillows! Take 20% off with GRACE20.
Older, but a woman on the creative retreat pointed me toward this conversation about creativity with Elizabeth Gilbert. I really enjoyed it.
I am coveting these minimal gold sandals. So chic, right?
ICYMI - I am adding a little extra content beyond the paywall each week.
