A two product glow-up, fancy boxed wine, an art release I'm counting down for, my thoughts on Sinners, and more
Hi there!
Wow: it’s hard to believe I’ve sent eighty of these. Substack still feels like such new terrain, but here we are... eighty weeks in!
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. How to support yourself or a loved one after losing a job. Vogue’s guide to affordable fashion. What to wear on a first date, Spring’s best fashion trends, how to make the Erewhon smoothies at home. Tiny martinis and cocktails. A few book lists and gorgeous homes. An interview with Adam Mosseri (Instagram’s founder). And so much more—enjoy!
PS - this one gets a little long! Click through to Substack to read the whole thing. And if you are feeling nice, give it a heart. <3
A two-product glow-up
If you’re an OG follower, you probably have these two products (I love them both so much and have gushed about each of them separately!). This combo is fabulous - I call it my lazy girl glow-up. Start with the U Beauty flash peel. This will give you the smoothest, glowiest skin, sloughing off dead skin cells. I like to apply it down to my décolletage. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then wash it off thoroughly and moisturize. You can use a slightly lighter product, such as the Super Hydrator or Bader — avoid anything too rich. Let your moisturizer sink in, and then spritz your face and neck liberally with this taninng water. Rub it in, wash your hands, wake up to a full-on glow-up. On blah days, nothing is better. Thank me later.
P.S. - If you’re new to U Beauty, use code GRACEATWOOD for 20% off. I love all of their products, especially this peel (it’s medispa quality IMO) and this neck cream.
The best blurring powder
As the Charleston humidity rolls in and I'm always shiny, I've been loving sweeping this blurring powder over my T-zone. It blurs away imperfections and controls shine, and feels just like an Instagram filter. This honestly might be my number one beauty essential right now. You can wear it on its own or over makeup—and if you wear it over makeup, it will make your base sweat-proof, which is pretty awesome!
(Edited to add: my shade is Palisades Pink!)
Fancy, yummy boxed wine
Juliet, a female-founded sustainable wine brand, reached out and offered to send me a box of their higher-end boxed wine, and I figured, why not! It’s lower in sugar than most wines, the packaging is eco-friendly, and it’s perfect poolside (I don’t allow glass outside!!). Plus, each box contains 10 glasses of wine. Fabulous! I served their Sauvignon Blanc on Easter, and it was a hit. Everyone (Dad included) really liked it. I’ve ordered more and want to try the orange wine next.
An art release I’m excited for
I've talked about Raven Roxanne’s work before; she's one of my favorite artists in Charleston. (She also has a Substack,
!) I love all flowers (but especially hers!) so much, and when I got the email about her upcoming Tulip Magnolia series, I got really excited. The color palette feels a little moodier than she usually goes, which I love. The collection drops 5/1 at 10 am. You can sign up here for early access details. They’ll go fast, so set an alarm.PS - she also sells prints, priced very accessibly at under $200! Worth having a peek if you’re in the market.
I started watching season 2 of The Righteous Gemstones. My friends were talking about it on Saturday, and I remembered how funny the show was, but for whatever reason, I’d abandoned it. It is very entertaining and silly.
My friends and I saw Sinners in the theater and LOVED it. A wild ride. This is a vampire film set in the Jim Crow South. Amazing Delta blues music and gorgeous cinematography. I would 100% recommend seeing this, especially on the big screen. Here’s the premise: Twin brothers return to their Mississippi hometown, attempting to leave their troubled lives behind and start anew by opening a blues club. They discover an even greater evil (beyond imagination!), waiting to welcome them back
And then, the usual rotation of Hacks (Max), Found (Hulu), and Your Friends and Neighbors (current favorite - Apple TV).
I rewatched Dallas Buyers Club after listening to Matthew McConaughey’s book. I’d forgotten most of the plot, but I loved it.
What happens when modern dating meets far-right ideology? A reader (thanks, Katie!) sent me this podcast episode, and I'm eager to listen.
Shopbop Hearts are up to date.
Donni dropped some fun Spring newness. I snagged these linen shorts.
New Posse dropped on Moda. I pre-ordered this white eyelet trim dress and this red + white striped dress.
ICYMI - I am adding a little extra content beyond the paywall each week.
