The Saturday Group Text, #69
My new bag, a serum that firms and tightens like no other. A favorite candle, a gorgeous artist to know, and more
Hi there! I hope you’re having a cozy Saturday morning.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It is a delightful little list. Where to go this year (and avoid crowds). Spring’s best accessories trends. The messy Oscar race. Things we say, thanks to SNL. How Vogue recommends getting over a breakup. Everything coming to Netflix this month. 8 great mystery shows you’ll want to cozy up with this winter. The best beauty products for under $30. A slew of Superbowl snack ideas. Some of the best books to read this winter. And loads more. Enjoy xx
My new Freja bag
We’ve featured Freja’s gorgeous vegan leather bags here before, so this is nothing new, but I love their newest silhouette. The Mercer bag has strong Alaia Teckel vibes and is, in my opinion, the perfect everyday bag. It holds all my essentials, but it’s small enough to tuck into a tote if I want to. I’ve been carrying mine around town and don’t remember the last time a bag got this many compliments. It’s worth noting that Freja’s pebbled vegan leather is fantastic. It looks and feels like real leather.
Alexandra Barth
Here's some gorgeous art for your feed. Alex Barth is a Slovakian artist living in Italy. I stumbled upon her work in Frederic magazine and was transfixed! Her paintings are so realistic that they could be photos. I’m especially impressed by how she captures fabrics, specifically the folds, pleats, and drapes. Her paintings feel really peaceful to me, which is something I think we could all benefit from right now.
Chicago readers: her work will be included in Secrest | Beach’s Folds exhibit; currently on display until 3/15!
Flamingo Estate Roma Heirloom Tomato Candle
This isn’t new, but it’s a rediscovery. I was in one of my favorite boutiques in Charleston (Wentworth, the best) and remembered this candle. It is just so wonderful. It makes your house smell like you spent the morning at the farmers’ market and have a pot of homemade tomato sauce on the stove. And on the note of Flamingo Estate’s candles, I’m really impressed with the burn time. They last a long time!
Skin Design London Face Tight Serum
OK, anything called “face tight” is something I have to try! I have been testing this serum out for the past couple of weeks and am very impressed. It really does just what it promises: it tightens everything up! I use it as my morning serum. It’s a little high-maintenance, but I apply Vitamin C, let that dry, and then apply this. I find that when I use it, my jawline is much more defined, and my cheekbones are a little more pronounced. Highly recommend! I have also been testing the brand’s daytime retinol (I like it!), but the Face Tight is the MUST.
I watched Babygirl (rented on Apple) and did not love it. I had a feeling going into it that I wouldn’t like it, but I wanted to watch it, given all the buzz. Nicole Kidman plays a high-powered CEO who enters a dominant-submissive affair with an intern at her company. Maybe I am too uptight, but the whole thing just stressed me out. An intern? Really!? When you are married to Antonio Banderas? I didn’t get it. Kidman gave a great performance, of course, but the subject matter was not for me.
Margaux launched a new flat, which is supposed to be their most comfortable ever. I am intrigued and love the leopard.
Shopbop Hearts are up to date! Lots of happy, colorful finds this week. <3
Continuing my cooking adventures, I ordered this very pretty version of the classic this week.
High Sport launched its kick flares in classic royal blue. They are already mostly sold out on Net, but Moda has a full-size run.
How great is this (packable!) raffia bag from Target? I was impressed.
Megababe has new deodorants, and they smell SO GOOD! My personal favorite is the Santal, but I also love the Peachy and Coco. While you are there, grab this underarm detox bar—it's a game-changer.
Dorsey launched a new earring style. I am always drawn to emeralds, but the yellow sapphires are actually my favorite. They are so fancy (and versatile—you could style them with jeans and a button-down or wear them to a black tie gala).
Something new: I am adding a little extra content beyond the paywall each week.
What’s below:
A little more personal content — this week’s high + low
A fifth find: This week, it’s an Etsy shop (jewelry) I’m obsessed with.
5 of my favorite Substack reads from the week.
