I’m thrilled to collaborate with Sezane on today’s newsletter to discuss how I wear one of my absolute favorite shirts: their Max shirt.
Before diving in, Sezane’s ‘Amour Club’ collection is worth a peek. I love Aki and Koichi’s style and seeing how they coordinated their looks. That gingham trench!
The Max shirt has been a staple in my closet for a few years now. I have several colors and fabrics, but the one I wear most is the classic white Oxford. (The blue and white striped one takes second place!) It is the piece I reach for most when nothing else seems to be working. Not all white shirts are created equal; this is one of the very best.
For context, I am 5’8 and wear the size 8, which is my usual Sezane size. (I don’t size down as the site directs). It is just long enough, just oversized enough (in a comfy way, but you can still tuck it in or layer something over it) . . . The buttons hit where I want them to (so there is never any gaping). It is truly the Goldilocks “just right” of shirts: the perfect cut. Same with the fabric. It’s thick and substantial but still drapes nicely.
In the warmer months, you can find me wearing this shirt with cutoffs most days (it’s my uniform!). I’ll button just two buttons for maximum ventilation. Today, I wanted to share some more cool-weather styling. It is still pretty chilly here in CHS (but I won’t complain; I know it’s freezing up north!).
I wanted to start with the most straightforward way to wear it: with denim and boots. Incidentally, this is also my favorite combination. I paired it with a classic suede boot and these wide-leg jeans (a must, IMO!).
I have been a big fan of Sezane’s Le Crop jeans for a long time but wanted to try a longer-length wide-leg. I was really happy to find that the fit of these jeans is really good. If you feel like wide-leg denim isn’t flattering or makes you look big all over (same), give these a try. They aren’t terribly baggy, and the fit of the butt is excellent. Note: I almost always size up in Sezane denim!
In one shot, I draped my favorite Sezane trench over my shoulders. It’s a little hard to see, but I styled it with this gold choker necklace and this canvas tote (another must!).
As I said, the shirt tucks in easily. I paired it with this wool mini skirt and fun sheer tights here. I added a cute platform Mary Jane pump, and one of my favorite bags.
I have the deep brown color of this bag (I think it was actually my first Sezane purchase, long before I worked with the brand) and love it—such a classic style. It holds all the essentials, and thanks to an adjustable strap, it works great as a shoulder bag or crossbody. Also, these little hoop earrings, which could pass for fine jewelry.
I can’t say enough good things about this sweater. You know by now that I love a pop of red. I love it over my shoulders here, but the fit of the cardigan is perfect (TTS), and you can wear it backward if you’d like. I’ll snap some more photos of it soon. Instant favorite status!
It has been pretty cold here in Charleston, and I rely on layers when it is. I love the shirt layered under this slightly oversized leopard print pullover. Oftentimes, I’ll size up to layer, but I did not here, as the sweater is nice and roomy. (Worth noting: size down if you don’t plan to layer it!)
I’m wearing the same black bag, these simple (but elevated) black pants, and these black suede flats. I can’t recommend these flats enough; they are one of my Sezane favorites. They are super pretty and extremely comfortable. The way they are cut makes your feet look cute and pretty. (Maybe that sounds weird, but it’s true?)
A giant thank you to Sezane for sponsoring this post. Photography by !
gorgeous photos. pretty light and model :)
Does it layer well when under the leopard sweater? I hate when button ups feel so bulky underneath! :) thanks!
