My Experience with Lifting Weights
On getting stronger, my current diet & exercise routine, the supplements I take, and shifting the focus away from skinny as the end goal
CW - if talking about body or appearance stuff bothers you, you might want to skip this one. I am not a doctor, nor am I a fitness expert. I am just sharing what’s working for me.
We're going to cover my current exercise routine, diet, supplements, and more. I have been really focused on this since the beginning of the year and am feeling worlds better - stronger, more toned, more energy!
There are no before-and-after photos. That is not what this is about! I feel more confident and toned, I feel good! I stand up straighter, I have more energy throughout the day (though I crash hard by 10 pm), and (most of) my brain fog has cleared. That is what it’s about. It’s only been about four months. I'm hardly an expert, but I'm genuinely excited to see what progress the coming months and years will bring.
I think a lot about my bones, my muscles, and ageing. My mother (and so many of my friends’ mothers) has osteoporosis. My grandmother had dementia, so I think a lot about my cognitive health as well. This isn’t just about looking good, it’s about feeling good and getting strong. In forty years, I don’t want to be one of those tiny, hunched-over old ladies. I want to be strong and capable.
