Catching up.

Birthdays, a happy day-trip, anxiety, falling back in love with Pinterest, working on the weekends, the VP debate. It's a real grab bag.

a day at the beach in Edisto.

Hi! Usually, this beginning-of-month letter for paid subscribers is more shopping-focused, but we have had so much shopping content on the blog that I didn’t feel like talking about shopping today! I thought, instead, let’s have a bit of a life catch-up. Lately, things have been moving at a breakneck pace. It felt good just to sit down at my dining table, pour some tea, and just write. I feel like I am writing to a friend, which feels nice. I didn’t have my editor look at this, I just wrote.

A quick housekeeping thing: Through Sunday, I am offering 30% off when you purchase a one-year subscription. I don’t plan on doing this any time soon, the $42/year subscription is the best it will get.

I am heading to New York this morning for just one night tonight to celebrate my friend Mary’s launch with Addison Bay. I enjoy just popping in and out. The flight is really quick (just over an hour) and it is (most of the time) so easy! I talked about doing more quick trips in my fall goals post… this is the first one.

Goals for the Fall.

I failed a little bit. I wasn’t organized and only told friends I was coming in yesterday. Better luck next time. The upside is that today I’m going to have a leisurely solo afternoon before the event. I'm going to have lunch at a favorite spot, see some art, have a little time to work.

It was a nice birthday. I felt really loved. I didn’t really want to do anything this year. I sound lame, but I'm tired! 43 is a dumb birthday! I will absolutely have a party when I turn 45, but for 43, all I really wanted was a road trip adventure with my bf (more on that below) and my dad’s sole meuniere (my parents lost power with the hurricane, so that didn’t happen but we will raincheck!).

There was no big celebration. Instead, I had several small but meaningful ones: a Friday dinner with my family, a Saturday date night with my guy, a small dinner on Sunday night, and another small dinner on Tuesday. It meant so much that friends wanted to celebrate me (despite me being a bit of a curmudgeon about it!).

The road trip was amazing. My boyfriend rented a car for the day, and we had the best little adventure.
