Style inspired by the stories I love.
This has quickly become one of my favorite posts, and wow do these covers deliver. Must-read books, translated into outfits inspired by their covers (and plots). What to read, what to wear!
The Book: Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe
I was inspired to do this one because I’m loving the show so much. It’s one of the best book-to-screen adaptations I’ve seen in ages. If you’re not watching (it’s on Apple TV), add it to your list. A young mom turns to Only Fans to make ends meet. In the process, she reunites with her absent (pro-wrestler turned coach) father. It’s heartwarming and hilarious.
What are we wearing? Kule Striped Tee, Wrangler Wide-Leg Jeans, Christopher Esber PVC Flip Flops, Mounser Cocktail Ring, Dima Eyewear Rectangular Sunglasses
The Book: Strangers by Belle Burden
This book is all anyone can talk about. Belle Burden is the granddaughter of Babe Paley. The book opens at the beginning of the pandemic. Belle Burden and her family (her husband and two daughters — their oldest son is away) are quarantining at their vacation home on Martha’s Vineyard. Belle receives a phone call: “Your husband is having an affair with my wife.” At first, Belle’s husband, “James,” says that the affair meant nothing and apologizes. The next day, he announces he is leaving her. And overnight, just like that, the man she thought was so steady and caring becomes a total stranger.
What are we wearing? With Nothing Underneath Linen Button-Up, Flore Flore Short-Sleeve Tee, AYR Straight-Leg Jeans, Gucci Oval Sunglasses, Yuni Buffa Boat Shoes
The Book: Into the Blue by Emma Brodie
A recent favorite! It’s a romance (not usually my thing), but it’s also got a Hollywood element, a sci-fi element, and some pretty weighty topics around the choices we make and how we hurt others when we try to protect them. That probably sounds vague, but I really don’t want to give anything away. The less you know, the better!
What are we wearing? Sézane Button-Up, Ulla Johnson Fringed-Hem Maxi Skirt, Staud Leather Mules, Laura Lombardi Chain Link Necklace, Lizzie Fortunato Embellished Evening Bag
The Book: Back Where We Started by Becca Freeman (out 10/13)
Trust me when I say that you absolutely must preorder this! Katie and Drew were once inseparable, but now they’re more or less strangers. Katie is now Blair Banks, a famous Hollywood actress. Drew has moved back home, where he is the local mayor. When Katie moves home to help her sister, the two are reunited. Can they figure out a way back to each other, or has too much happened? Witty banter, characters you’ll love . . . this book is a big warm hug!
What are we wearing? Emilia Wickstead Strapless Midi Dress, Neous Slingback Sandals, Le Sundial Silk Pouch, Lizzie Fortunato Lapis Earrings, Jenny Bird Bangle
The Book: A Good Person by Kirsten King
This book is seriously effed up (in the most delicious way). Lillian is not a good person. When her situationship does not fall in love with her and instead breaks up with her, she decides to exact revenge upon him by casting a hex. She expects the hex to ruin his life or maybe cause him to come groveling back. Instead, she wakes up to the news that Henry has been found dead. Did Lillian’s hex work? When Lillian finds herself a prime suspect in his murder case, her life is thrown into a dangerous tailspin.
What are we wearing? Aligne Checkerboard Knit Top, La Ligne Wide-Leg Pants, Stuart Weitzman Thong Sandals, Heaven Mayhem Beaded Necklace, Sun Buddies Oval Sunglasses
