A Few Things Before I Go
I'm OOO, but before I go, some good 4th of July Sales + a bunch of fun things I've been saving up to share here
Bonjour de Paris! I head to Provence today and will be off Substack and socials until Wednesday. That means no Friday or Saturday letter and no Weekend Reading on the blog. I’ve scheduled a few posts to the blog so it doesn't go completely dark on you, but thank you in advance for understanding while I give myself a little creative recharge!
Today’s blog post has reviews of the twelve (!) books I read last month. Newsletter content will resume mid/late next week with a mid-year reading check-in. How many books I’ve read so far, and my favorite reads so far. A reminder that you can sign up to get blog posts delivered via email here!
If you’re curious about what I packed for Provence, I put together a little collection right this way.

July 4 Sales to know
Hotel Lobby Candle never has sales, and this is their big one. 20% off sitewide through July 1st. My personal favorites are Signature (the loveliest everyday scent—it’s soft and light and smells like a boutique hotel) and Hamptons (my ideal summer candle, smells like tomato
J.Crew is running an extra 60% off sale styles with code EXTRA. Wow.
1stDibs is having its big summer sale, with up to 40% off. There is a lot. I spent several hours going through the sale (I filtered to under $1,000 and then went through all fifty pages). My picks, the best items under $1,000 are in this collection!
Freda Salvador is offering 20% off summer sandals through 7/6. No code needed!
ASTR has become an affordable favorite (especially dresses!), and they are running a big sale: Take 30% off sitewide and an additional 30% off sale items. A few personal favorites this, this, and this (have and love all three) this, and this (in my cart).
A Bunch of Very Random (But Very Excellent) Stuff!
(I’ve been saving these up to share while I’m away)
I talked about Experiment’s super saturated serum (below) but I am convinced that this brand is the next big thing in beauty and we’ll see them everywhere soon. The products are excellent, and very affordably priced. Besides the serum I love this cleanser (reminds me so much of this $78 cleanser) and this moisturizer is rich as f*ck. The packaging is not my cup of tea but I’ve gotten past that as the products are excellent.
Look at this bread-inspired wrapping paper!
- linked to this article in his latest send, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I sent it to several friends. The social media part did make me laugh.
Martha Calvo is a brand that is maybe my secret spot for affordable, awesome jewelry. I got these earrings this Spring and later learned that a girlfriend (hi
) thought they were thousands of dollars until I linked them on my stories. Now, she has them too and frankly neither one of us can believe they are $140. The paracord initial necklace seems to have sold out everywhere except Revolve.Speaking of jewelry, HART dropped a bunch of new gemstone necklaces. I bought this peridot one and brought it on my trip.
I love Flewd’s bath soaks. If I am stressed or can’t sleep, I reach for their anxiety-destroying or insomnia-ending soaks, respectively. They just launched a brand new Fatigue Defeating soak, and it’s heaven. We have a code, too. GRACE20.
Before I left, Classic Six sent over their new Donna shirt in striped linen, and it’s perfect. I like that it is long, with a slimmer cut. It feels like it was tailored to my specific body. I wore it on the plane and it didn’t get too wrinkly. A good workhorse piece. I wear the size 8. This is not one to size down in.
At a friend’s birthday dinner last week, I learned that Farrow & Ball “Dead Salmon” is indeed, a real paint color. (It’s beautiful, for the record). After a laugh about paint colors, I was referred to this skit (below) and laughed out loud.
I don’t know how I only just found out about Lola and the Boys for little girls’ stuff but wow. If you have a little person in your life who loves rainbows and sparkle and pink, this is the place to go. I mean, look at this tiered rainbow dress.
I'll leave you with this delightful, spherical pillow from CB2 that I just added to my living room. Ever since reading Joyful, by Ingrid Fetell Lee, I’ve aimed to add more round, curved items to my home (spoiler alert: they spark joy!)
OK! Bye for this week! Love you, mean it! XOXO
The perfect way for me to start my staycation! Grace, you're a national treasure! Enjoy every moment of your getaway!
Loved the article, thank you.
