The Saturday Group Text, #50
The most delicious-smelling body lotion, a new favorite candle, an artist to watch, and SO MUCH TV.
Hi there :) Happy Saturday. I am being a happy little hobbit at home after a busy few days in New York.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It’s a great list with loads of interesting things to click on and read. The best cookbooks of fall 2024. How Cathy Horyn found her personal style at age 67. How an introvert created his dream home in Paris (it’s stunning). Shopping finds. Book recs. How Bobbi Brown created her iconic Miracle Balm. Profiles on Selena Gomes and Shailene Woodley. A fun feature on all of that Tell Me Lies drama. Cozy fall recipes. Haunted hotel rooms. And more! I hope you enjoy it. Have a lovely weekend!
Two notable clothing things!
I really loved the new Hill House drop and got a few things. They were waiting for me when I got home and I really love everything I got. Sadly, the coat I got went fast, but this dress is so good… I love that it’s made from a more sheer fabric; it feels fancier than other nap dresses. I also bought and love this mini!
Madewell is running 40% off fall favorites. Wow. Use code FALLFAVES. I love this little crossbody (you do as well; it has been a best-seller the past few weeks). Other favorites include these pull-on satin pants, these socks, two of my favorite pairs of jeans (these and these), and this pretty dress.
On the note of sales, don’t miss my Bluemercury picks! 25% off is amazing!
The most incredible orange blossom candle.
I had a facial at the Augustinus Bader Skin Lab this week (heaven, worth every penny, highly recommend). It’s located inside The Webster; a fun surprise as I’ve always loved The Webster. From almost a block away, I could smell the store. When I walked in, it got even better. Orange blossom heaven. The only thing I can compare it to is the Coqui Coqui hotel in Mexico, where orange blossom just seems to ooze from every room.
I had to know the scent. What was this magic? The Webster’s signature South Beach candle. I purchased two; one for my friend who loves orange blossom as much as I do and one for myself. If you are an orange blossom person (and I know from past letters that many of you are), you will absolutely LOVE this. There is also a room spray, but I find I never use room sprays.
I’m back home now and have it burning as I write this. It’s wonderful.
A very yummy body cream
Travel is always a good excuse to try out new products! I love packing sample sizes of new launches I want to try. I had a small size of this vanilla body butter from Josie Maran, and I love it. It smells really, really good (addictively good), leaving my skin super silky without any greasiness. I am buying more. I love that they sell refills too… it’s such a smart (and planet-friendly) idea. But truly: it smells so good.
Karina Sharif
While wandering around Soho this week, I popped into the Ganni store. The best thing in the whole store was not clothing; it was this beautiful chair. I snapped a photo and put it on my stories and was thrilled when the artist (Karina Sharif) reached out to say hi. So cool! “Seat #1:” steel, paper, gouache, acrylic, powder coat.
Sharif is a multi-disciplinary paper artist based in Brooklyn. I am really enjoying following her on Instagram and look forward to seeing what she does next.
What I Watched This Week:
Cozy season is starting early. There is just SO MUCH good TV!
Film:
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! I saw this in the theater with my friends. It was so much fun. Entertaining, beautiful to watch, kooky and zany. (And of course I also re-watched the original to be up-to-date.
TV:
The early-fall TV schedule is just soooo good right now.
Last Saturday, I watched the entire season of The Perfect Couple. I know not everyone loved this, but I adored it. It's the perfect mystery, with a cast of beautiful but deeply unlikeable characters and an idyllic background on Nantucket. Like everyone else, I did think the dance at the beginning was weird, but whatever! I loved the show.
Tell Me Lies. I watched the third episode the minute I got home from New York. It is just such a treat. I didn’t think Stephen could get any more toxic after the first season, but he did!
Three Women. I watched the first episode (on Starz) last night and was underwhelmed, but I loved the book so much that I will keep watching, at least for the next couple of episodes.
And—of course, my love/hate! Emily in Paris is back so that will probably be watched over the weekend.
Extras:
Welcome to Substack, ! She needs no introduction, but just in case, Liz is one of my closest friends in Charleston, and I’ve been heckling her to join for a while now. She has the best style and is just a wonderful human and mom.
After last week’s inclusion, Hanni reached out and made us a code! Use GRACE20 for 20% off. My favorite is the in shower moisturizer.
I love your art content!! And the books!! I appreciate your sharing yesterday about selling yourself short. It resonates. I printed out your story about being true to yourself and it’s hanging in my house for all to see. It’s a struggle for real. Imposter syndrome is alive and well. You have an amazing story and look at your success in running your own company in a whole new industry!! I hope you put your elevator speech together so you can be better prepared next time. I so relate to your situation. It’s a lot easier to boost someone else. Have a great weekend!
I loved the perfect couple too! Also, I tried the hanni shave pillow last week based on your rec and just ordered the shower salve! Great stuff!
