The Saturday Group Text #25
A new to me (reasonably priced) resource for party dresses, very cute (under $100) mesh flats, Mille's new arrivals, TV recs, and more.
Hi, happy Saturday!
I hope you are having a good one. I had a cozy night in last night and it was wonderful. The forecast in Charleston is rain, rain, rain so I’m planning on a mostly cozy and indoorsy one with the exception of drinks with pals on Sullivan’s tonight.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. A great article about Truman Capote and the parallels between today’s attention economy. Elle’s list of the best mysteries and thrillers of 2024. Spring cocktail recipes that sound really, really good. An ultra cool Barcelona home with stunning tile and an octagon-shaped room.
Sister Jane
My friend Pamela is always extremely well dressed wore the most amazing dress to a party last week. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Everything about it was perfect: the cut, the beautiful fabric, etc. When I asked her about it, I was delighted to find that it was a relatively affordable dress from Sister Jane. I hadn’t heard of Sister Jane but I am now a FAN. They have the best dresses. Truly, I want everything.
I asked her about sizing and she said, “obvi the dress is enormous but the M fit true to size in the arms / chest.” That is the key info I (we!) need… even though it’s big, don’t size down! I ordered two dresses (this and this) both in the medium. I will report back but I am a bit obsessed. This one is fun too. And I really wanted this one (love cobalt blue) but it’s sold out in my size.
Steve Madden Flats
Carly and I both ordered these Steve Madden flats and I think they are just so cute. They are also wildly comfortable. They were back ordered forever but they finally came and I really love them. It may seem silly that I bought the Alaia version in white crystal (way less classic) and then the knockoffs in black but that is a factor of a) personal style — I can’t explain it but I wear the white ones way more and b) I think you can get away with a less expensive shoe in black or navy, whereas to me the the lighter versions of the knockoffs look a little cheap.
(It’s worth noting that Carly then found a $65 version which is also really cute!)
Mille’s new collection
I have been a longtime fan of Mille, for their breezy dresses and tops. The new collection is STUNNING. My two favorites are this top (I went with my usual size M as it looks a bit cropped) and this dress (I have this dress in a few patterns and the fit is perfection. I was elated to see it in a neutral - size down, I wear the small). I have a code with Mille - GRACE15 will get you 15% off.
What I Watched This Week:
TV:
The Gentleman with Theo James on Netflix is a fun crime thriller.
Palm Royale on Apple TV is a little bit mean girl but has dreamy costumes and sets. Phenomenal cast (Kristin Wiig, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, etc!)
Apples Never Fall on Peacock (based on the Liane Moriarty) book is a thriller (surrounding a mother’s disappearance - played by Annette Benning). This fully has my attention.
Movies:
Lindsay Lohan’s movie Irish Wish on Netflix was very cute. Cheesy and fun.
Extras:
Boll & Branch brought back my code (I partnered with them on instagram yesterday). This is the best bedding, it’s all I use. Take 20% off with GRACE20. There are only two more days left to use it.
My friend Katie just texted me that Rachel McAdams narrates the audio version of Anne of Green Gables. How wholesome, nostalgic, and wonderful… I can’t wait to listen and thought you might feel the same way.
I had no idea that Liv Constantine has a sequel to The Last Mrs. Parrish coming out in June. The original came out in 2017. It was a fav twisty domestic thriller; the perfect beach read. I pre-ordered ON THE SPOT!
The Rachel McAdams Anne is so good! She is PERFECT! But there's also another Audible version with Catherine O'Hara as Marilla and Victor Garber as Matthew! It's on Audible Plus.
Palm Royale and Apples Never Fall are both on my list!
